Can Bankruptcy Stop Foreclosure?

Yes. Chapter 13 bankruptcy, also called reorganization bankruptcy, is an effective means to stop foreclosure. This type of bankruptcy sets the debtor up on a three to five-year repayment plan in which debts are reorganized and the debtor pays back a portion or all of the debt.

To stop foreclosure, Chapter 13 bankruptcy must be filed before the proposed sale date of the property. After filing bankruptcy, our firm's attorneys will work with you to formulate a repayment plan based on your income, payment amounts, amount of debt, and other factors.
